Sean McComb is undaunted by facing former Midlands Area champion Troy James on late notice in Belfast on Friday night.
‘The Public Nuisance’ (5-0-KO3) is delighted to have a significant graduation on his hands and has promised fans at the Ulster Hall a special display on the busy #MTKFightNight – live on iFL TV.
McComb said: “It came at a bit of short notice. The original opponent changed but then they phoned again and told me it’s Troy James. I’m even more excited than I was!
“You have to be ready for these kind of phone calls. I’ve been training like I was fighting a big name anyway so I’m excited to see what he’s going to bring to the table and I’m excited for the step up.
“I’m sure he’ll come and have a go. I saw him against the likes of Luke Campbell and Liam Walsh. He’s boxed some big names. I know he’s going to come forward and I think that’ll suit me down to the ground.
“The more pressure he puts on me, the easier it’s going to be for me. It’s as simple as that. I’m not fussed on stopping him. If I do, all well and good but my ability will send the biggest statement.
“This is the perfect fight to show how skilful I am. Watching my boxing ability will be more appealing to people than seeing me knock him out.”
James (21-7-1-KO5), who has also challenged for English and British titles over the course of an impressive career, has also taken former lightweight world champion Terry Flanagan the 10-round distance.
McComb vs. James stars on an action-packed bill at the historic Belfast venue topped by the WBO European middleweight title rematch between Conrad Cummings and Luke Keeler.
