Kieran Smith sets sights on Commonwealth title shot

RINGSIDE 22/03/2019

Undefeated Scottish star Kieran Smith has set his sights on more titles by the end of 2019 as he prepares to make his return tonight.

Smith (13-0-KO6) is the current WBC International Silver champion, and this evening he takes on Jan Balog at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow live on iFL TV.

He’s already made it clear that he wants the full version of the WBC International title, and he’s now added the Commonwealth belt to his wish-list before the end of the year.

Smith said: “By the end of 2019 I want to remain undefeated and maybe even get the Commonwealth title. Eddie Hearn seems to have the British scene tied up at the minute so that may stay off limits, so I’d happily go down the Commonwealth route.

“I’ve got the WBC International Silver belt too so we can keep going down the WBC route. I’m not bothered who I face, I’m happy to fight whoever MTK Global put in front of me.

“I’m excited to be getting back in the ring. I’ve had some great sparring and these shows keep getting busier and busier so I always enjoy fighting on them.

“The last show up here in Glasgow was virtually sold out and hopefully this one will be exactly the same with another incredible atmosphere.”

Tonight’s show in Glasgow live on iFL TV also features former Commonwealth champion David Brophy facing Vladimir Belujsky, Michael McGurk going up against Evaldes Korsakas, and Iain Butcher taking on Carl McDonald.

There are other exciting stars also in action, including Lewis Benson, Reece McFadden, Jack Turner, and many more.
