Former amateur star Thomas Stalker has sent a special message to the MTK Box Cup competitors ahead of the prestigious tournament getting underway next month.
The competition takes place between April 18-21 at Penrith Leisure Centre in Cumbria, and has attracted interest from all around the world, with nearly 600 boxers confirmed to be taking part.
Current MTK Scout Stalker enjoyed plenty of success as an amateur, winning multiple medals and captaining Team GB’s most successful ever Olympic team at the 2012 London Olympics, and he knows full well what a great opportunity the MTK Box Cup is for rising amateur stars.
Stalker said: “I’m coming over for the MTK Box Cup and I’d like to wish success to everyone that has entered. I hope everyone enjoys the experience and it is going to be jam-packed in every weight class with the best fighters from up and down the country and around the world.
“To win gold it will be very tough, but as long as you get the best from the competition and learn from the experience of going there then that’s all that matters.”
