Manny Pacquiao coach names two opponents if Floyd Mayweather bails

Manny Pacquiao’s strength and conditioning coach Justine Fortune is not banking on the Filipino Senator landing a fight with Floyd Mayweather.

As rumors persist on a rematch, and both continue to train behind closed doors, Fortune named his two choices for a Pacquiao return in the summer.

“Spence is a big 147-pounder,” Fortune told The Philippine Star. “He’s scheduled to fight Mikey Garcia and he’ll win.

“Garcia’s too small and Spence will overpower him. I honestly don’t know why Garcia took the fight.

“It also depends on who’s available,” he added “Right now, I have no idea when Manny’s next fight or who his opponent will be.

“Manny and Al will determine all that. I’m on the training side so I don’t know what’s going on in the business or promotional side.

“I stay in touch with Manny. We exchange texts from time to time. I know he’s busy with his work as senator and campaign manager in the coming elections.”

On when Pacquiao could be back in action, Fortune stated: “Eight weeks should be enough (time to be ready).

“Manny’s always in shape so it’s not hard for him to get back in fighting condition. When we’re all back together as a team, I’m sure whomever he fights, we’ll do a solid camp.

“The result will be what we want. It’s worked before, it’ll work again.”

Pushed on his preferences for Pacquaio if Mayweather isn’t able to get his body back in shape, Fortune concluded: “It’s not my call but I like Danny because he comes to fight.

“It’ll be an exciting war. Danny’s an easy sell because his father (Angel) is a loudmouth.

“Thurman is another option but didn’t look too good in his last fight (against Josesito Lopez). If Manny wants to fight Thurman, now’s the time.”

CRAWFORD v KHAN

The winner of Spence v (Mikey) Garcia, Thurman and (Danny) Garcia are all solid options and the trio do compete alongside Pacquiao on Premier Boxing Champions.

Fans would potentially pick the victor from the Terence Crawford v Amir Khan clash on April, though. Whilst others would plump for Shawn Porter.

All will revealed in the coming weeks, with speculation an announcement could even be made immediately after Spence v Garcia in Texas.

Pacquiao is expected to be in attendance this Saturday night at the AT & T Stadium.
