He’s known for his mantra; his energy, his positivity, and of course, his boxing success! All of which will be coming with him this March; when The Champ, Shannon Briggs, heads to the UK!

Speaking about his upcoming visit, the two-time heavyweight champion of the world stated: “I’m heading your way UK…I’ll be doing meet and greets across the country.

“I love the fans; this sport has amazing fans. I’m looking forward to meeting them all.”

Shannon is known for taking time to engage with his followers and never denying anyone a picture. He’s looking forward to being able to give them more of his time.

“You know, I get asked questions about my life, stopped in the street and asked about my career. These dedicated ‘meet and greets’ will allow me to give time to the fans. It can be hard to do that whilst out and about. I’m looking forward to being able to do this.”

If his previous UK visits are anything to go by, it’s clear that his fans have just as much love for The Champ, as he does for them!

October last year saw him stir up a storm during a visit to London, during which he was mobbed by adoring fans at the Joshua/Povetkin weigh-ins. As well as at the O2 arena and throughout the streets of the capital.

“It’s a second home for me, I’ll be spending time in gyms training, and visiting fighters from all over. The UK has so much energy, so much love.”

MENTAL HEALTH

When questioned about the topic of mental health in sport, Briggs stated that he hopes he can use his own experiences and mental health battles to help others.

“Mental health is at the forefront of all sport, it has to be, you’ve got to be ready mentally, just as much as you need to be physically. My own experiences, the highs and lows; I feel I can turn these into positives by helping others, showing them that no matter what, you can still achieve your goals, your dreams.”

With a gap of 3 years since he last stepped into the ring, a fight which saw him walk away with a win by KO against Emilio Ezequiel Zarate; there is always one question his fans want an answer to: when will he be back?

“I’m ready, when the opportunity arises, I’m ready, you know that. I’m always training, training doesn’t stop. But I’m looking forward to having this other focus, this tour is going to give me a chance to really engage with my fans, as well as with other people in the sport.”

So, with just a few weeks to go until he lands, get your ‘Let’s Go Champ’ ready and your tickets in hand!
