Dave Allen insists he’s fine after growing concern over ‘testing few days’

British heavyweight Dave Allen has gone through a ‘testing few days’ after assuring fans he’s fine on social media.

Fears grew for the fighter over the last 72 hours following a cryptic late-night tweet during a clear low point.

Allen took to Instagram and Twitter to confirm he’s all good after enjoying a night out with Ricky Hatton.

“Hello everyone. I am healthy and well. A testing few days. I’m sure there will be many more to come in this life for myself and everyone else out there,” said Allen. “For now, if people could stop messaging me and calling me as I am not able to reply but very grateful nonetheless x.”

Due to face Lucas Browne later this year, Allen had been hard at work in the gym until this recent turn of events.

The ‘White Rhino’ has the opportunity to give himself a rankings boost. Whether that fight now goes ahead is under a cloud.

Allen, 26, is undefeated since traveling to France to fight Olympic gold medallist Tony Yoka in June 2018.

A crushing upset win over Nick Webb catapulted Allen in the top tier domestically. Allen then won a war with Ariel Bracamonte in November.

Despite being linked to many fights over Christmas and early in 2019, Allen insisted he needed a break and would resist any offers until this year.

BROWNE

The Browne fight came along, and Allen jumped on board. Promoter Eddie Hearn is still yet to fully confirm the details, though.

A long-time advocate of mental health issues, Allen has always put his supporters first and maybe needs a bit of time to refocus his efforts.

WBN would like to wish him well and hope we see the best David Allen back in the ring at the earliest opportunity.

Since bursting onto the scene in 2016, Allen has been a breath of fresh air for British boxing.
