EXCLUSIVE: Miller Time for Anthony Joshua following leaked phone call

Talks regarding a stateside heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Jarrell Miller are reaching a conclusion. This is despite a recent warning by the American.

Miller had revealed an offer from a top NFL team to switch his allegiance to American Football. The ‘Big Baby’ then threatened to walk away from Joshua talks and accept.

WBN have since reached out to Miller’s co-promoters Dmitriy Salita and Greg Cohen. The former gave a brief update on conversations.

Despite Miller’s stern words, Salita says dialogue is progressing.

“We are moving in the right direction. Talks are taking place regarding a fight between Anthony Joshua and Jarrell Miller. I can tell you that we are having productive conversations,” Salita exclusively told World Boxing News.

“But close and far is the same in this kind of situation. There is no deal until it’s signed sealed and announced,” Salita (???? Terrell Groggins) added.

On the back of Dillian Whyte confirming a rematch with Joshua ‘dead in the water’, Joshua has few options left.

A trip across the Atlantic to battle Miller became the number target as the timescale window closed.

Heading to New York for Miller has since been solidified by the leaking of a phone call between Joshua and a delivery person.

“I think we’re going to have to go to the States because I have done everything I can and everyone doesn’t want to fight, man. I think it’s about June time,” he said in the clip posted by the delivery person on YouTube.

Asked about Wembley, he replied: “I doubt it. The only thing I can think is if they’re trying to make me stop training and then two weeks out they’ll say ‘ yeah, we wanna fight’ and I’m two weeks out of preparation.

“They might try and catch me dry. Other than that, in my mind, we’re going to the States.

“It will be good though,” he added.

ALTERNATIVE

It’s a far cry from Deontay Wilder or Tyson Fury in the eyes of the vast majority of fans.

But with the two meeting in a second fight this spring or early summer, there’s not much else Joshua can do.

Wladimir Klitschko was even brought into the equation at one point. It’s rumored DAZN had put together a two or three fight package for the former world ruler.

This included the option to meet Joshua again in the future, although didn’t solve the problem lying in Joshua’s immediate future.

For now it’s Miller, with an official confirmation due next week.
