Manny Pacquiao ‘scratched eye is not career-threatening’

Manny Pacquiao showed up the day after his one-sided win over Adrien Broner with his left eye covered with a patch.

During a bible study at Mandalay Bay on Sunday afternoon, Pacquiao told his audience that his eye got injured because of the tape on Broner’s gloves that rubbed against it.

“My eye got scratched by Broner’s gloves,” said the 40-year-old Pacquiao, who retained his World Boxing Association welter crown on a unanimous decision at the MGM Grand.

“It was simply an eye scratch,” said one of Pacquiao’s key men Sean Gibbons late Sunday after riding with the eight-division champion from Las Vegas to LA.

The New York Daily News reported that Pacquiao may have suffered a potentially career-ending injury. Gibbons brushed it off.

Buboy Fernandez, who saw Pacquiao the morning after, said his childhood friend just complained of prickliness.

“The doctor said after three days, it will be okay,” said Fernandez.
