Nordine Oubaali picked up the vacant WBC bantamweight title with a gutsy performance against a slick Rau’shee Warren.

In a rematch from their amateur days, which Oubaali win by a single point, the pair fought out another close contest.

Warren began the better, but it was the middle round where the fight was won. Oubaali came on strong and managed to see out a decision despite a late comeback.

After the championship distance, Oubaali claimed the green and gold strap 117-111, 116-112 and 115-113 on the scorecards.

Facing a late replacement in Alberto Guevara, Hugo Ruiz scored a decisive victory following ten rounds of one-sided action.

Ruiz dropped Guevara in the first with a head attack and looked on his way to a quick knockout. Guevara rallied and managed to stay in as Ruiz attempted to apply pressure.

A final round onslaught came and went as Ruiz earned a 39th career win on the cards. Scores were 100-89 and 99-90 twice.

KAMBOSOS

George Kambosos Jnr. continued his progress with a dominant points win over Rey Perez. The 25 year-old Australian, a sparring partner of Manny Pacquiao, took every round of eight.

With the win, Kambosos improves to 16-0 under the guidance of manager Peter Kahn.

Super featherweight Desmond Jarmon made tough work of Canton Miller when carding a majority decision to preserve his undefeated record.


Jarmon, 7-0 going into the bout, came out a 59-55 winner on Adalaide Byrd’s card. Glen Trowbridge also scored in favor of Jarmon 58-56.

Robert Hoyle, on the other hand, couldn’t split the pair at 57-57.

The early action saw victories over four rounds for welterweight Destyne Butler and cruiserweight Viddal Riley.

Butler out-pointed David Payne to push his record to 5-0. Riley stopped Mitchell Spangler in the opening round of his second professional contest.
