A potential heavyweight title clash between Hughie Fury and Joe Joyce has been delayed again by the British Boxing Board of Control.
Thursday’s circular did little to explain the situation at heavyweight as Fury is marked down as injured for a second successive month.
Fury v Joyce was initially put out to purse bids in November, although Team Fury asked for more time due to an ailment to the champion.
As WBN predicted back then, the fight is highly unlikely to happen as both Fury and Joyce are hoping to push towards a world title in the near future.
Fury may decide to vacate or wait until Joyce announces his next opponent and officially makes an expected pull-out.
Having only just fought a world title final eliminator, it’s not thought Fury will be looking to go back to domestic level. But it’s not out of the realms of possibility.
Joyce is also looking at the top end of the world rankings for his next opponent, having recently made his US debut under Al Haymon.
An eliminator between Nathan Gorman and Daniel Dubois, which could be fought for the vacant strap once Fury vacates, has been called off until things become clearer at the top.
At light-heavyweight, Joshua Buatsi and Liam Conroy have been put forward to battle it out for the vacant Lonsdale Belt.
Callum Johnson has decided to leave the strap behind on the back of a failed world title challenge against Artur Beterbiev in 2018.
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT (Vacant)

Finally, at super-lightweight, an eliminator has been set for a future fight against holder Robbie Davies Jr.

CONNOR PARKER v CORI GIBBS The above eliminator contest to be promoted by Errol Johnson, will take place on Saturday, 9th March 2019 in Walsall.
