Abner Mares believes Gervonta Davis is nowhere near the finished article ahead of their February 9 clash.
The 33 year-old attempts to halt the undefeated run of the two-weight world champion and sees holes he can exploit at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson.
Speaking to Gerry Cooney on Sirius XM Fight Nation, Mares discussed the contest.
Gerry Cooney: “Abner, what flaws and what holes you see in Gervonta Davis’ game?”
Abner Mares: “I see a lot. Obviously. he’s still a young a young fighter that’s trying to prove something.
“One of those flaws, I mean not to give out too much obviously, but I think he is arrogant. I think he feels that he is the best.
“I mean already calling out Errol Spence for sparring. I mean I know you feel that he is one of the best out there and that’s right.
“You know that’s good to have that in your mind. But honestly, I just feel that I’m going to exploit you, without giving things out.
“Just the ability to really shown that you know there are fighters out there that can really be touched. And you know me as an experienced fighter I could definitely prove that.
“I’ll take him in deep water. Something that he’s never been in. I’ll test his heart, and really make him feel that there’s this more than knockout.
“Because the guy obviously got 20 fights and 19 knockouts and he’s never he hasn’t had many rounds in his record.”
