Warmly regarded by his fellow boxers and fans as a genuine and valiant man who deploys respect to his opponents before and after his bouts, Dave Allen has no qualms with standing toe-to-toe and exchanging heavy bombs with any boxer within the heavyweight jungle.
It’s apparent the big Yorkshireman never turns away from a battle and conducts his affairs without any phony grudges, presenting as a tough customer who is raring to rip through the rounds with ferocity and brutal trades until someone is out for the count or the clang of the final bell sounds.
In short; Allen is a straight-laced individual who just gets on with it.
In an exclusive interview with WBN, the “White Rhino” pre-analyses heavyweight banger David Price versus Sean Turner (set for October 5 in Belfast), dissects Fury vs Wilder (date and venue yet to be announced) and shares his potential upcoming bouts.
“Turner vs. Price is a good fight. Sean is underrated – I know how good he is”, Allen exclusively explained to World Boxing News.
“If he’s fit and on his game, Sean’s dangerous for anybody. But I envision David being a little bit too big and maybe winning on points but it’s a really good fight”.
Allen continues with his fight predictions for “The Gypsy King” against the “Bronze Bomber” and how he sees that panning out should it come to fruition this year.
“I think Tyson will win. He’ll just find a way. He’s too big and too clever for Wilder. I think if you’re looking for just one shot against Tyson you never going to find it and that’s what Wilder will do and he’ll expect to walk through Tyson as well. – but it’s a big mistake thinking he can’t punch because he can.
“So I just think it’s a case of him being too big and too clever and Wilder is going to get outboxed”
And finally; Dave Allen explains what he anticipates into the new year.
“I’ve got a fight in Newcastle and I’m looking to fight for the British or Commonwealth title. I’m maybe looking at going over to America and sorting out a cheeky fight with Shannon Briggs. But, it’s early days, so we’ll see what happens”.
The “White Rhino” will be gracing Sky Sports once again, in a heavyweight on October 13 at the Metro Arena in Newcastle.
