Mickey Helliet has revealed a Commonwealth title fight will top his 101st promotion.
The Bethnal Green based promoter’s event at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Saturday, February 2 willbe topped by a clash for the vacant Commonwealth super-lightweight championship.
The belt will be fought for by Leytonstone southpaw Philip Bowes and Benson Nyilawila, from Tanzania.
Twenty-year-old Nyilawila has won 10 of 11 fights, while Bowes gets his shot after outpointing VusumziTyatyeka in an eliminator in February.
The 34 year old left hander is the latest success story to emerge from Helliet’s popular small-hall shows.
Darryll Williams, Asinia Byfield and Robin Dupre have also broken through to fight on major TV shows after serving their apprenticeships on Helliet’s small-hall shows.
Helliet describes his shows as “a proven pathway to big fights” and fighters on his next show who are looking to break through include Reading featherweight Gelassius Taaru and unbeaten super-featherweightDaniel Khan along with pro debutant Jordan Blake.
