The latest British Boxing Board of Control circular did little to explain the situation at heavyweight.
Hughie Fury v Joe Joyce was put out to purse bids one month ago, although Team Fury have asked for more time due to an injury to the champion.
The fight is highly unlikely to happen as both Fury and Joyce are hoping to push towards a world title in the near future.
Fury may decide to vacate or wait until Joyce announces his next opponent and officially makes an expected pull-out.
Having only just fought a world title final eliminator, it’s not thought Fury will be looking to go back to domestic level. But it’s not out of the realms of possibility.
An eliminator, which could be fought for the vacant strap once Fury vacates, has been called off until things become clearer at the top.

HUGHIE FURY (Holder) v JOE JOYCE – Following injury to Hughie Fury, this division will be considered by the Stewards at a future date.
DANIEL DUBOIS v NATHAN GORMAN – Both boxers have withdrawn from purse bids.
MIDDLEWEIGHT (Vacant)
MARK HEFFRON v LIAM WILLIAMS The Stewards decided to approve a request from Promoter Frank Warren for the above contest. Heffron v Williams will take place on Saturday, 22nd December 2018 in Manchester. Winner to waive grace and defend when called upon.

LEWIS RITSON (Holder) v ANDY TOWNEND – The Stewards decided to put out the above contest to purse bids. Those to be submitted in accordance with the Terms and Conditions. Sent to the Board’s Head Office by 12:00noon on Wednesday, 9th January 2019. The contest to take place by the end of April 2019.
