Tyson Fury’s dramatic comeback in his WBC heavyweight title fight with Deontay Wilder is 3/1 with Betway to be voted the sporting moment of the year at SPOTY 2018.
Fury almost completed a remarkable comeback to the ring, but had to settle for a draw against the WBC champion, and the Gypsy King’s return is being backed for the inaugural award.
England’s famous penalty shootout win over Colombia at the World Cup is the 5/4 favourite with the leading online bookmaker, while the England netball team’s winning gold medal at the Commonwealth Games also looks in contention at 5/2.
Betway’s Alan Alger said: “It’s been another extraordinary year of sport with so many fantastic moments, but there weren’t many better than Tyson Fury’s return to the ring.
“The Gypsy King was superb in his WBC world heavyweight title fight with Deontay Wilder and for many was hugely unlucky not to take home the belt. It’s a performance which has seen him backed at 3/1 to win the inaugural SPOTY moment of the year.
“Gareth Southgate masterminded England’s run to the semi-finals of the World Cup and his side’s penalty shootout win over Colombia in the last-16 heads the betting at 5/4.”
