Charismatic British heavyweight Dave Allen has decided against returning to the ring in the next few weeks.

Following a tough battle with Argentine Ariel Bracamonte in Manchester, ‘The White Rhino’ is hanging up his gloves for the remainder of 2018.

Despite being originally scheduled to fight on the Kell Brook v Michael Zerafa undercard, Allen says this won’t happen.

‘Papi Pay-Per-View’ also ruled out a spot on the final Sky Box Office card of the year in London.

Dillian Whyte battles Dereck Chisora on December 22, live on the Matchroom paid format. Despite being the UK’s premiere appearance maker on PPV, Allen will resist any attempts by Eddie Hearn to add his name to the poster.

“I just want to clear up that I’m not fighting in Sheffield in the 8th (Brook v Zerafa). Nor am I fighting in London on the 22nd,” clarified Allen. Whilst posting a picture of himself posing as ‘The Rock’ in his WWE pomp.

“My ears and my loved ones won’t allow it. So I have no tickets for either to sell and will be fighting next in 2019,” he added.

Prior to the announcement, Allen had responded to calls by some for him to come back fitter in his next bout.

“People can get fit, people can train on things for years and years. But you can’t train or buy heart and mine is the biggest f***er in boxing!

“In 2019, I will┬ábe back bigger and better,” stated ‘The Doncaster Darren Barker’.

Allen is keeping a firm eye on the current situation with the British Boxing Board of Control as his strap quest continues.

The BBBofC recently ordered a British title bout between Hughie Fury and Joe Joyce. Neither man is set to take that fight as Fury is tipped to vacate.

Joyce is also unlikely to compete for the Lonsdale Belt. Manager Sam Jones has already ruled out the ‘Juggernaut’ fighting Allen for personal reasons between the trio.

This means an eliminator contest between English champion Daniel Dubois and Nathan Gorman could be for the full honour in future.

Joyce’s old Commonwealth title could also be up for grabs on any all-Frank Warren show between Dubois and Gorman.

Dubois would then leave his English belt behind and that could open up a big possibility for Allen to get his foot on the ladder in the title stakes.
