The Deontay Wilder v Tyson Fury undercard is beginning to take shape for December 1 in Los Angeles.
So far, only Chris Arreola and Isaac Lowe have been confirmed officially for the event. Whilst three more contests could be secured soon.
The first is nailed on as announced by the fighters themselves. Jarrett Hurd, the unified super-welterweight king, will defend his titles against British fighter Jason Welborn.
Hurd puts his IBF, WBA and IBO versions on the line against the man who recently vacated the British middleweight title.
Welborn defeated Tommy Langford twice but then surprisingly gave up the coveted Lonsdale Belt.
The move now makes sense as Welborn travels to California for his United States debut on a Pay-Per-View undercard.
“I will be fighting Jarrett Hurd for the IBF, WBA, IBO world titles on the Wilder v Fury undercard on December 1, live from staples centre on Showtime PPV. Time to shine – my year,” said Welborn excitedly.
Hurd v Welborn adds to rumors of two significant heavyweight contest being almost finalized.
One sees Luis Ortiz pitted against Travis Kauffman with one eye on the winner of the headliner. With the second being UK contender Joe Joyce against the USA’s own Joe Hanks.
Added to Arreola’s appearance and the card has a true flavor of the top division.
Wilder vs. Fury tests the raw power of Wilder against the unmatched size and mobility of Fury.
America’s only heavyweight champion since 2007, Wilder has 39 knockouts in 40 professional fights. This includes knockouts in all seven of his title defenses.
Fury is a former IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight world champion. He is undefeated in 27 professional fights and holds boxing’s coveted lineal heavyweight title.
