Tony Bellew will present a difficult challenge for Oleksandr Usyk on November 10, according to K2 representative Alex Krassyuk.
Home advantage, coupled with a relentless will to win means Bellew will make Usyk work for all he gets.
Usyk puts all his belts on the line in what is already being labelled as a potential Manchester gutter war.
I cannot wait for this fight,” said Krassyuk. “Two lionhearted warriors will collide for all of the Cruiserweight World titles.
“This is a fight that the World has been waiting for. I’m delighted to be part of history in the making.
“Many experts don’t give Tony a chance in this fight but he has proved many times that being an underdog does not mean being a loser.”
Krassyuk has been there every step of the way as Usyk won World Boxing Super Series glory recently. The Ukrainian hopes an entertaining victory over Bellew will lead to the biggest challenge of all.
“I can’t see Usyk having an easy walk in the park on November 10. This is the biggest opportunity of Tony’s career and he has nothing to lose, this makes him very dangerous.
“All of our focus is on Tony Bellew and November 10 but once Usyk defeats him he will be targeting the king of the Heavyweight division, Anthony Joshua.”
Despite campaigning at 200 pounds, the skill of Usyk has lead to comparisons with Evander Holyfield.
The American successfully piled on pounds to make the transition to the top division after becoming undisputed, like Usyk, at the lower limit.
Bellew will have to be taken care of first but it’s then expected Usyk will vacate his belts.
Andre Ward coming out of retirement would be the only carrot to remain at cruiserweight before a run at heavyweight begins.
Finally, twelve months of transition would then be needed, meaning Joshua v Usyk would probably be on for 2020.
