Eight bouts confirmed for Puno Limpio on Sept 28 in PR

With eight fights was made the second edition of the new stage of the series “A Puño Limpio”, for Friday, September 28, at the Ruben Zayas Montañez Coliseum in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, in a presentation of PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) in association with Spartan Boxing, which will be broadcast by Wapa Deportes.

This card will feature Trujillo Alto natives Wilfredo “Bimbito” Méndez and Jean Carlos “Lobo” Torres, who will fight in separate bouts to 10 and eight rounds, respectively.

“We’ve completed the new event of A Puño Limpio with eight fights in which, in addition to Bimbito and el Lobo in the main turns, we included one fight of females and several debutants fights, as well as the Top Rank prospect, Antonio Vargas, and others promising fighters in action, “said promoter Ivan Rivera, president of PRBBP.

In one of the new bouts included, scheduled to six rounds and at 147 pounds, the unbeaten John Correa (5-0, 5 kos) will fight against Dominican Victor Abreu (9-4, 5 kos), while at the same time distance, the Puerto Rican blood fighter Antonio Vargas (7-0, 3 kos) will be measured against an opponent to be determined at 122 pounds.

In four rounds bouts, meanwhile, Jean Rivera (1-1) will face debutant Emmanuel Román at 147 pounds; Alfredo Cruz (1-0, 1 kos) will fight against Louis Rios (0-3) at 115 pounds; the debutants Angel Marrero and Nick Steven Torres will be measured at 140 pounds, and in the women’s fight, debutants Magnanamai Báez and Genesis Lopez will fight at 105 pounds.

The main event of the night will have local Bimbito Méndez (10-1, 4 kos) facing the Mexican Axel Aragón (10-1, 6 kos) for the vacant WBO NABO minimumweight belt. Meanwhile, in the co featured, Lobo Torres (12-0, 8 kos) will face Luis Joel González (11-5-1, 6 kos) in a scheduled eight rounds and 140 pounds fight.

The series “A Puño Limpio”, in its first part, took place between 2011 and 2012 with shows around Puerto Rico, and had in action fighters like the current world champion Emmanuel “Manny” Rodríguez (in his debut), former world champion Manuel Alejandro “Manny” Siaca, later world champion McJoe Arroyo, as well as future world challengers McWilliams Arroyo, Jonathan Oquendo, José “Chelo” González and David Quijano, and then prospect Jonathan “Bomba “González, among others.

The “A Puño Limpio” series will have three other cards in 2018, on Fridays, October 26, November 16 and December 7.
