World Boxing News will be live on site tonight as GGG v Canelo 2 unfolds from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
In the main event, power-punching Gennady Golovkin puts his World Boxing Council, International Boxing Organization, Ring Magazine and World Boxing Assocation ‘Super’ belts on the line in a rematch with Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez.
‘GGG’ bids to rectify a controversial draw between the pair in September 2017. Golovkin seemingly did enough to win at least eight rounds but was held by Canelo.
One judge, Adalaide Byrd, received a short suspension for carding 118-110 in favor of Canelo. The only consolation for Golovkin is the fact that he gets another payday.
Scores of 115-113 and 114-114 put the pair back to square one and things haven’t been the same since.
Animosity is rife due to Canelo also serving a ban for Clenbuterol, delaying the fight from May 5th.
In the double co-feature, Jaime Munguia defends his WBO Super-welterweight title and David Lemieux is in action.
Munguia takes on challenger Brandon Cook, whilst ex-world middleweight champion Lemieux is pitted against Gary O’Sullivan.
A win for Lemieux or ‘Spike’ will see them pushed into a spring clash with the victor from the Main Event.
Log on to the World Boxing News website from around 7pm ET / 12am UK to follow how the fights are scored live.
