RINGSIDE 13/09/2018

The World Series of Boxing action will be back on September 26 and 28 with the Season VIII Finals scheduled across two boxing nights.

After the WSB break for the multisport regional events, the Chinese cities of Xiamen and Jinjiang, both in the coastal province of Fujian, will see the Astana Arlans Kazakhstan and the Cuba Domadores battling for the WSB glory.

“First of all I would like to congratulate Astana Arlans and Cuba Domadores for qualifying to the WSB Season VIII Finals. Both teams have great sporting traditions and can be truly considered to be among the best boxing nations in the World.

The WSB Final has always represented a major milestone in the boxing season and this edition will once again crown a star-studded team. We are delighted to come to China, home of the China Dragons team, and we are confident to deliver another world-class event for the millions of WSB fans around the World”, said AIBA Interim President Gafur Rahimov.

Defending-champions Astana Arlans’ superb run to the Finals saw the Kazakh team defeating British Lionhearts 7 – 3 at the Semi-Finals on impressive fashion. The Arlans are the only team who can show off three stars under their emblem and will be looking to add a new title to their already packed trophy cabinet.

The mighty Cuba Domadores have reached once again the WSB Finals after an impressive 8 – 2 Semi-Finals victory over France Fighting Roosters. Lead by four-times AIBA World Champion and Olympic Champion Julio Cesar la Cruz, the Cuban squad will be looking to avenge their Season VII Finals defeat against the Arlans to bring the WSB Trophy back to the Caribbean island.
