Roc Nation’s John Bauza continues progress with points win

Roc Nation junior welterweight boxer John Bauza dominated in his return to the ring on Saturday, toppling Rashad Bogar via a six-round, unanimous decision victory (60-53, 60-53, 60-53) at The Showboat Hotel & Casino.

For most of the evening, Bauza (11-0, 5 KOs) controlled the tempo against Bogar (4-8, 2 KOs) – who last fought on May 16, 2016 – and even scored a knockdown against the veteran from Newark, N.J. The win marked Bauza’s third consecutive unanimous decision win.

Back on March 10, 2018, Bauza started the calendar year with a unanimous decision win (60-54, 60-54, 60-54) over David Morales at the Claridge Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. Two months later, he followed that performance up by defeating Hugo Padilla in a six-round unanimous decision victory (60-54, 60-54, 60-54) at the Birchwood Manor in Whippany, N.J.

Bauza’s next fight will be will be scheduled shortly, but it’s likely that he will graduate beyond six-round fights and take the next step in his professional career.

“I’m glad John went rounds with a tough opponent like Bogar,” Roc Nation Sports boxing promoter Dino Duva said. “We now feel he’s ready to go to the next level with eight-round fights. He’s only 21, but he is ready to step up. The sky’s the limit for him.”
