Angel Garcia and Kenny Porter, who both also serve as their sonsā trainers, are asked by Gray how they react when they watch their sons take punishment in the ring.
āAs a dad, I have to separate the boxing,ā Angel Garcia said. āSo when Dannyās in there Iāve got to look at him as a coach. I canāt look at it as a dad.ā
Said Kenny Porter: āAs a former boxer, I felt what itās like to be in that ring… So I feel differently when heās in the ring. I have a more competitive spirit towards winning than maybe someone whoās kid is in there and theyāre looking at whether the kid is getting injured. Iām looking at it like, letās win.ā
Gray gets Porter and Garcia to open up about challenges, regrets and the aspirations theyāve carried for their progeny both in the ring and outside of it. āI do [have regrets],ā Angel Garcia said. āI said my faults. Iām not perfect.ā
Angel called himself the āmost underrated trainerā in boxing today, and Danny the āmost underrated fighter.ā
