Kubrat Pulev will face Hughie Fury on October 27th at the Armeec Arena in Sofia in a final eliminator with the International Boxing Federation.

Whoever comes out on top can expect to face Anthony Joshua at some point in 2019, potentially in April at Wembley Stadium or beyond.

Pulev himself made the official announcement on Bulgaria ON AIR this Thursday.

He said: “It’s a very interesting match against Hughie Fury, in terms of the fact that my opponent is quite serious.

“The motivation is great because this match will be decisive for who will fight Anthony Joshua for the world title,” added the Bulgarian, who then addressed his pull-out of a clash with the Briton in September last year.

“Although I was injured (the first time), a match with Anthony Joshua will take place. he can not escape and I am looking for him.”

Pulev’s brother Tervel has already been confirmed for the undercard.

Upon defeating Sam Sexton for the Lonsdale Belt over the summer, Fury curiously leaped above the likes of Carlos Takam and ex-opponent Joseph Parker (who defeated him last year), meaning the 23 year-old was eligible to fight Pulev.

Pulev had won a purse bid to stage a stipulated clash to gain a shot at Anthony Joshua, although scheduled opponent Dillian Whyte dropped out in order to battle Parker on July 28 in London.

That left Pulev without a foe for his summer event on home soil, with only Jarrell Miller and Alexander Povetkin currently above Fury in the ratings.

Fury obviously fancy the job as he bids to make a name for himself and push closer to another world title shot after losing out to Parker on points in Manchester last September.
