Frank Warren ‘pretty sure’ he can make Wilder v Fury happen

Fury is preparing to face Francesco Pianeta on August 18 at Windsor Park, Belfast, in what will be his second fight after an inactivity of more than two years. The promoter of Fury, Frank Warren, comments that they are negotiating with Wilder´s team for a fight towards the end of this year.

“First of all, Fury should look good and win the bout on August 18. Reports from the gym indicate that he is preparing very well,” Warren said, adding: “Tyson, as he said himself, has been talking about Wilder in recent weeks and it’s a fight that fans would like to see, if we can make it happen, it could take place in November or December. I’m pretty sure we can make it happen.”

For his part Fury, confirmed through Twitter that the talks with Wilder and his team are very advanced to reach an agreement. Although he is aware that to get the chance to face the WBC heavyweight champion, he must first offer up a good fight versus Pianeta.

Wilder and Fury had a memorable “face to face” in the ring after Wilder’s victory over Artur Szpilka a couple of years ago. Deontay has defended his WBC crown four times, against Chris Arreola, Gerald Washington, Bermane Stiverne and Luis Ortiz recently.
