‘Disgrace to boxing Anthony Joshua won’t fight Deontay Wilder at any cost, imagine if I beat WBC champ in the USA!’ – Tyson Fury

Wilder v Fury 24/07/2018

Tyson Fury has gone in on Anthony Joshua once again, accusing his British rival of ducking a unification with Deontay Wilder having rejected a whopping $50m offer.

Wilder laid the money on the table with a guarantee from Al Haymon if the fight took place on Showtime PPV in Las Vegas, although Joshua decided against the move helped by advice from manager Robert McCracken.

A UK clash was then negotiated, with Joshua eventually deciding to give mandatory Alexander Povetkin his shot for a showdown at Wembley on September 22.

Fury, in his latest rant on social media, believes Joshua plain and simply didn’t want to fight the current WBC heavyweight champion.

‘It’s such a sad time for heavyweight boxing because you’ve got the so-called super-champion and golden boy Anthony Joshua and he’s avoiding Deontay Wilder and will not fight him at any cost. If you’re not going to fight someone for £40m, you’re not gonna fight him for anything,” said Fury.

It’s a disgrace and he’s a disgrace to boxing and I think he needs someone good enough to step up and take on the challenges and not be afraid. Not be afraid to take risks, go to people’s backyards and do it.”

Adding his own potential ambitions to accept an offer to trade blows with Wilder in the States, Fury added: “Can you imagine if I went to America and beat Deontay Wilder in America after beating Klitschko in Germany?

“That would be sensational. It might happen, who knows. Wait for the news,” said the former ruler.

August 18 and Francesco Pianeta is the focus for Fury in the immediate future, with a date at Windsor Park the first building block to getting back into contention.

The WBC have rated Fury in the top ten following his comeback victory against Sefer Seferi, and the 29 year-old knows he needs to step up his game and do a number on Pianeta in order to gain Wilder’s attention.
