George Groves seems to be in the dark as to when his next fight will finally be given date as the Briton continues his recovery from a shoulder injury.
‘The Saint’ defeated Chris Eubank Jr. in February to book his place in the World Boxing Super Series finale where Groves will defend his WBA title against compatriot Callum Smith.
Rumors of a September date seem to be firmly out of the window as Groves questions when the formal announcement of his Ali Trophy showdown will be confirmed.
“I wonder if the World Boxing Super Series will ever set a fight date for the SM final!?” said Groves.
“Probably not. Oh well, might as well go running just in case there’s a sniff of a chance someone something they haven’t told us all yet. Again probably not,” he added.
The cruiserweight showpiece takes place this weekend between Aleksandr Usyk and Murat Gassiev and will feature four versions of the 200 pound crown plus The Ring Magazine strap.
Groves is obviously getting itchy feet after seemingly denying reports he was ready to pull out in order to pursue a rematch with James DeGale.
British fans are currently in despair regarding the contest after hearing strong suggestions, later ratified by Kalle Sauerland, that the fight will be heading outside the UK – even as far as the Middle East.
More is expected to be revealed soon.
