The biggest fight in bareknuckle boxing is happening !
Promoters UBBAD have confirmed Jimmy Sweeney, the sport’s top pound-for-pound pugilist, will meet Sean George in a superfight at London’s O2 Indigo on Saturday, September 8.
The seven-round fight gives Sweeney the chance to become a three-weight world champion.
The Sligo slickster has previously held the belts at super-middleweight and middleweight – and George’s world lightweight title will be on the line when they clash.
At the fourth attempt, George captured the belt last month with an exclamation mark 44-second KO of Liam Cullen in their rematch.
Footage of the Welshman’s right-hand finisher have led to jaws dropping around the globe – and Sweeney was also a KO winner on the same show.
He kept his world middleweight title, gunning down the much taller Kris Trezise in spectacular style inside a couple of rounds.
Sweeney afterwards called for a fight with George – and he jumped at the chance to test himself against a fighter widely regarded as bareknuckle boxing’s best.
The show is expected to sell out and Joe Brown, co-owner of UBBAD, has confirmed talks are being held with a major television company regarding the show.
