Rocky Fielding STUNS Tyron Zeuge, wins WBA strap with TKO in Germany

Zeuge v Fielding 14/07/2018

Rocky Fielding mastered Tyron Zeuge after a close opening couple of rounds to claim the WBA ‘regular’ super-middleweight title at Baden Arena in Offenburg.

Liverpudlian Fielding, amused at the introductions after being billed ‘from Warrington’, took Zeuge’s early pressure before taking over in round three.

Using his size advantage, Fielding pushed Zeuge back and landed several combinations to make the German think twice about firing back.

In round four, the writing was on the wall as Zeuge took a barrage of punches and seemed to be tiring at the end of the session.

Fielding came out with bad intentions in the fifth and piled on the pressure to drop Zeuge with a body shot before the towel came in.

‘Rocky from Stocky’ can now look forward to a homecoming world title headliner at Liverpool’s Echo Arena later in the year.

On the undercard, Leon Bunn remained undefeated as the rising German puncher scored a decisive points win over ten rounds.

The 25 year-old beat Sergey Demchenko with a three judges carding 99-91 in Bunn’s favor.

British super-middleweight star Zach Parker had no trouble seeing off Geard Ajetovic as the 24 year-old won every round of eight on his way to boasting a 16-0 record.

Parker, who has starred on World Boxing Super Series undercards of late, is closing in on a title shot of some sort, having made steady strides since his debut in 2015.

Cruiserweight prospect Mikael Lawal successfully made it seven wins from seven starts with a fifth round stoppage of Istavn Kun. The Nigerian-born Londoner is touted for big things by promoters Team Sauerland and at 23, has plenty of time on his side to work through the rankings.

Germany’s Denis Radovan won for the tenth time on the spin with a routine eight-round decision against Pavel Semjonov, whilst in the middleweight division, Simon Zachenhuber continued his early career progress with a four-round victory over Srecko Janjic.

Aniya Seki retained her WBC Silver female bantamweight title with a unanimous win over Csilla Nemedi, whilst at super-lightweight, Verena Kaiser carded a six-round triumph over Mari Tatunashvili.

Earlier, super-middleweight Xhek Paskali pushed to 3-0 with an emphatic six-round points win over Marco Miano in the opener.
