CompuBox have put together a pre-fight stat package aiming to break down the most recent form of Manny Pacquiao and Lucas Matthysse ahead of their imminent welterweight clash.
The ‘Pacman’ bids for an eleventh world title in eight weight divisions against the tough Argentinian following a shock reverse against Jeff Horn in Brisbane last year.
Matthysse puts his WBA ‘regular’ belt on the line as ‘The Machine’ looks to become a major player in the 147 pound ranks.
Below is what CompuBox have discovered:
Pacquiao threw 26 fewer punches per round and landed 10.5 fewer in his last 6 fights (vs. Horn, Vargas, Bradley III, Mayweather, Algieri & Bradley II, compared to his previous 10 fights. The biggest drop off was in the power punch dept., as Pacquiao threw 16.5 fewer power shots and landed 9.6 fewer. His last six opponents landed around the same as his previous 10 opponents. (All 16 fights fought at 140 lbs or higher.).
Matthysse threw slightly below the weight. class avg. but landed above in total punches (34.4%) and power punches (44.4%). He can be hit, as opponents landed 33% of their power shots.
