WBC CONFIRM Lennox Lewis v Vitali Klitschko II IS ON for Kiev

Former World Boxing Council heavyweight champions Lennox Lewis and Vitali Klitschko will return to the ring in a high profile exhibition during the annual WBC convention, which will be from September 30 to October 5 at the Fairmont Grand Hotel of Kiev, Ukraine.

English-born Lewis, 52, has not fought since his memorable fight against Klitschko in June 2003 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Lewis stopped Klitschko after the sixth round due to a deep gash on Klitschko’s left eyelid.

Klitschko (45-2, 41 KOs), from Ukraine, led the fight with the same score, 58-56, on each of the three judges’ cards when the match ended.

Lewis (41-2-1, 32 KOs) was 38 when he announced his retirement in February 2004.

Unlike most retired champions, Lewis never had plans to return to the ring.

46 year-old Klitschko won the WBC title that Lewis vacated when he defeated Corrie Sanders in the eighth round in April 2004 at the Staples Center.
