Ramirez, O’Connor talk forthcoming WBC title match-up

Ramirez will arrive at the Save Mart Center in California to fight in front his people, in the main event of the night, which will be in honor of immigrants.

“It has been my dream to become a world champion. Now it is my duty to defend this belt at home for my city, my fans and everything I fight for, “said Ramirez, who has always defended the rights of farmers.

“I am blessed to have this opportunity. I dedicate this fight to the immigrants who contribute and make our society a better place. I’m pro-immigrant and I’m proud to be one.”

O’Connor has waited for a world title opportunity for an awful long time.

“I’ve been waiting for this opportunity since the day I put on my first pair of gloves. I am willing and I accept the opportunity to fight against a great warrior like José Ramirez, I think I have a legitimate chance to win the world title.”

With a professional record of 22-0, 16 KO´s, Ramirez won the vacant world title on March 17 in New York after defeating Amir Imam by unanimous decision; his rival, in turn, has a 30-3 mark, with 11 KO´s.
