Derek Chisora has a blockbuster of a fight on July 28th when he will meet former AJ opponent Carlos Takam on the undercard of Whyte vs. Parker at the O2.

Speaking exclusively to WBN Chisora gave his view on the fight:

“Yeah it was in the works for a while because Takam and his team asked to fight me, they asked for the fight I said yeah, kept on saying yeah but there was no date or the right day for the fight,” Chisora exclusively told World Boxing News at the launch of the William Hill Arms Pub.

“It’ll be a tough fight but endurance and power are going to make me come out of there with a victory.”

Chisora and Takam are very familiar with the UK boxing market, with their brawler styles making for an exciting match-up.

“Yeah the styles, the audience will love it, its going to be a good fight,” predicted Chisora.

Switching topic to Tyson Fury and his return to the heavyweight scene, former opponent Chisora spoke about the long awaited comeback.

“Yeah his first fight was for him to just get rid of the rust, seeing if he can still use the double jab effectively and stuff like that.

“I think his second fight shouldn’t be tougher as well, you know this year he should just have easy fights. A couple of easy fights and a hard one in December.”

Tyson Fury endured a lengthy span of 31 months out of the sport where he gained and lost eight stone, with the weight loss being a massive part of his comeback, according to Chisora.

“You know he was focusing on losing weight and stuff like that which is good, he boxed okay. We know what he can do when he’s firing both cylinders – he’s quite good.”

Hughie Fury, the cousin of Tyson captured the British heavyweight title in May after a failed world title attempt in September. Giving his view on the pair, Chisora laughed at the idea of the family members sharing a ring.

“I think he should fight his cousin, yeah why not. His things went bad with his uncle so why not fight your cousin,” said Chisora.

Tyson Fury teamed up with Ben Davison rather than former trainer and uncle Peter Fury, which means the fight could technically be made, even though both have stated they would never fight.

“Yeah something happened with his uncle, so if he gets the fight it would be a boring fight but it would be very interesting. It would be boring but there’s only two ways about it,” he predicted.

With Fury aiming to regain the world heavyweight titles, Chisora said his old foe could be ready next year.

“Next year in the summer, he’ll be ready by then.”

Dereck Chisora was speaking at the William Hill Arms, the pub which will offer fans the ultimate England watching experience including expert analysis, plus free food and drink.
