World light-heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev has offered Andre Ward a shot at the title should the American come out of retirement anytime soon.

‘Krusher’ was beaten twice by the ‘S.O.G’ in back-to-back bouts before his nemesis then hung up his gloves and Kovalev is hopeful of a change of heart.

“I’m ready always because I’m still training to fight anybody. I want a big fight, including Andre Ward,” Kovalev told Sirius XM Boxing Radio.

“There should be a third fight because we’re 1-1. A third fight should happen between me and Ward.

“No excuses for him beating me (in the 2nd fight). Let them make the third fight. I’m back mentally, physically and well conditioned. I’m happy now,” he added.

Kovalev is pencilled in to fight Eleider Alvarez in August, after which there would be a spot open for a trilogy clash with Ward.

Ward remains the only blot on the 35 year-old’s impressive C.V, and beyond a move up to cruiserweight, only Dmitry Bivol or Artur Beterbiev would seemingly be a threat to Kovalev in the short-term.
