British heavyweight Dillian Whyte looks set to snub a fight with Kubrat Pulev in favor of a WBC eliminator with Luis Ortiz this summer.
Despite participating in a purse bid with the IBF to face Pulev in a final eliminator for the number one sport, promoter Eddie Hearn is set to turn his back on Whyte earning less than £300k for a fight in the Bulgarian’s backyard.
This brings Ortiz into play as the World Boxing Council announced the pair could participate in a second eliminator to face the winner of the Deontay Wilder v Dominic Breazeale title bout.
According to ESPN, a date of July 28 could be confirmed at a press conference announcement on Thursday in London, which would then leave Pulev in search of an alternative foe.
Looking at the IBF ratings, another Hearn fighter, Jarrell Miller is next in line but may also pass up the opportunity to battle Pulev on his home soil.
That potentially leaves Carlos Takam or Joseph Parker to get the call, both of whom have also been linked to a contest against Whyte.
