Martin Murray has sensationally revealed his scheduled June 23rd fight with Billy Joe Saunders is OFF for good.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday morning, Murray informed fans of an injury to Saunders before apologizing and claiming the WBO champion ‘had s*** out again’ in his statement.
THE FIGHT IS OFF!! Billy Joe Saunders has shit out again! Gutted is an understatement but nothing i can do. Just want to apologise to everyone who’s bought tickets and booked hotels and thank everyone for their continued support. Hopefully another training camp doesn’t go to waste and my management team can get me a fight sorted in the next couple of weeks
The St. Helens man went even further by stating his belief that Saunders is keeping his options open with a possible fight against Gennady Golovkin in the pipeline, whilst interest could also come from Canelo Alvarez.
“I thought I’d tell you first before you hear another bull**** story,” said Murray. “The fight is off, he’s s*** out again.
“First it was his hand and now it’s his hamstring. We all know he wants a big money fight with Golovkin or Canelo,” he added.
Golovkin and Canelo are at a deadlock in rematch negotiations and Saunders is the only other fighter with a belt, meaning the Briton is the number one target for both in September.
For Murray, the collapse means months out of action and the ex-world title challenger is hoping a fight is arranged elsewhere soon.
