Carving Tyson Fury’s path to world title redemption

With his victory over Wladimir Klitschko a distant memory and since topped by UK rival Anthony Joshua, Fury is hoping a few return triumphs can lead to an eventual match-up with the divisional number one down the line.

Seferi comes first on June 9 at Manchester Arena, and just like the odds at New Online Casino, you wouldn’t bet against Fury coming up a winner and securing a 19th career knockout from 26 victories in the process.

So where does Fury head in his pursuit of a battle with Joshua, or even WBC ruler Deontay Wilder should the current champions fail to agree a massive heavyweight unification?

Well, WBN has a look at what kind of path could be forged by Fury in order to regain his old belts.

June 9 – Sefer Seferi

An easy feeling out match-up that should take Fury in the second half of the fight. It may well just come down to whether Fury wants to go the distance or not and how he feels in there on the night.

September – A former world title challenger

Someone in the ilk of an Alex Leapai, Gerald Washington or Chris Arreola would be a solid step-up in class for Fury and bring him nicely into the next phase of his plan for world domination.

December – Top 15 ranked contender

Staying busy will be key and participating in a third fight of 2018 would be ideal to launch the final stage of his re-entering the mix for world honors. Fury must seek out someone in the top 15 of any of the governing bodies ratings to put himself in with a chance of securing an eliminator in 2019.

March / April 2019 – Eliminator

‘The Gypsy King’ would be eyeing up a 29th win by the spring of next year – should all have gone as expected, with a good standing alongside the WBA or WBC vital to Fury moving forward.

Relations with both the WBO and IBF have been rocky in the past, leaving Gilberto Mendoza and Mauricio Sulaiman as key figures in Fury’s attempts to fight whoever holds the belts at the time.

Summer 2019 – World title shot

A year on from his comeback and Fury should be ready to once again challenge for a world title in what will be his 30th career bout.

Hopefully, Joshua or Wilder will have fully unified all the championships and be willing to accept a huge undisputed battle with the man who should be king.

The next twelve months will reveal all…
