The next cliffhanger card of the popular series “SuperFly 3” looks likely to land on September 8, at a venue to be determined in Southern California, and it’ll be televised by HBO.
Promoter Tom Loeffler off 360 Promotions, confirmed the plans of the “SuperFly 3” including World Boxing Council champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (44-4-1 and 39 KO’s) expecting to defend his title, by rematching Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada (36-3 and 25 KO’s).
Both, Rungvisai and Estrada, fought a ferocious and bloody war, which is a candidate for “Fight of the Year” That transpired on February 24 in the “SuperFly 2.
Ken Shiro (12-0, 6 KO’s), who’s the World Boxing Council light flyweight champion, will defend his crown against the Ganigan Lopez (28-7, 17 KOs), the man who unthroned, in a highly anticipated rematch on May 25 at the Ota-City General Gymnasium of Japan.
Shiro was impressive in a public training session. The first they clashed, was in May of last year, and the bout ended with a decision in favor of Ken.
“Since the first time I had to change a lot and I have improved my boxing. I want to be a long-reigning champion, I have a great team behind me and that impels me for this rematch against Lopez,” said Shiro.
Former champion Lopez comes from knocking out his compatriot Efrén Bautista. For his part, Shiro defended his crown for the second time knocking out Panamanian Gilberto Pedroza.
Looking increasingly likely that Miguel “Alacran” Berchelt could make the third defense of his World Boxing Council super featherweight championship on June 23rd, against the former world featherweight champion from Argentina, Jonathan Víctor Barros.
Barros has a victory over Miguel “Mickey” Roman, who’s Berchelt’s mandatory challenger. Berchelt has a record of 33-1 with 29 knockouts, one of the highest percentages of KO’s in the division. While Barros, has a record of 47 professional fights, 41 victories, 22 Ko´s, with five defeats, only one by knockout, and a draw.
Berchelt comes from knocking out Ghanaian Maxwell Awuku in three rounds, who was the replacement for former champion Cristian Mijares.
