An eye-popping deal was laid out in an email by Wilder and his team on Wednesday evening, with the stipulation an acceptance was forthcoming within 24 hours.
That deadline came and went – and Hearn, who initially questioned the offer whilst expressing interest, wanted some of those queries answered face-to-face.
Wilder’s advisors Shelly Finkel and Al Haymon were scheduled to meet Hearn in New York on Friday, although the Matchroom boss has been left frustrated in moves to find out more about the money on the table.
“The offer is not someone saying $50 million. We don’t know where it is. We don’t know what channel it’s on. Where is it? When is it? Who’s involved with what? There’s so many questions to ask,” Hearn told Sirius XM Boxing
“We’re interested in the deal. 100%. But we need to see the terms. So I asked for a meeting. That was rejected.
“If they won’t meet me to discuss the deal … it’s very disheartening. It makes the whole thing look strange.
“How can you not meet with someone and you’re offering them $50m and all we need to know about are terms of this fight?”
Joshua is already being linked to fights with Alexander Povetkin and Jarrell Miller in the summer, whilst Hearn previously revealed a WBC mandatory agreement between Wilder and Dominic Breazeale for June or July.
Whatever the current situation, the whole thing is a bit of a mess and both teams would seemingly need to change their strategies and tactics in order to finally get this fight done.
