Understandably, this was a difficult question for Frampton to answer, but he decided on Roberto Duran, the four-weight world champion former professional boxer. Frampton sings his praises stating; “I liked everything about him. I think he’s probably the best lightweight of all time.”
What is your favourite fight to watch?
Qawi, a former WBC light heavyweight and WBA cruiserweight champion, and Holyfield, a former undisputed cruiserweight and heavyweight champion, created Frampton’s favourite fight to watch in 1986, due to what he described as “unreal cruiserweights, fighting like light welterweights”.
What would your all-time fantasy fight be?
Here Frampton reveals his favourite boxer fighting today, Vasyl Lomachenko, the current WBO super featherweight champion. Carl Frampton’s fantasy fight would be Lomachenko against Duran, his all-time favourite.
Which fighter in history would you love to fight?
Carl Frampton chose Wayne McCullough on the basis that he is a “fellow Belfast man”, followed by confident “I think I’d beat him” with a smile. The kind of quiet confidence that surely has helped bring him as far as he’s come.
Who is the greatest boxer of all-time?
The moment, Frampton stated he didn’t want to be “cliché” with his answer, it was quite clear who he would choose; “…everything Ali’s done, in and out of the ring. Not only the greatest boxer of all time, but the greatest sportsman of all time.”
