Four-time world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner fights former world champion Jesse Vargas in a welterweight elimination bout of the World Boxing Council, this Saturday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Broner has not fought since July of last year, when he was defeated by Mikey Garcia. It has been nine months of inactivity, but he assures that with his new trainer Kevin Cunningham, he has improved in many aspects.

For his part, Vargas comes from losing two of his last fights, having a great match on November 2016, against Manny Pacquiao.

The fight is organized by Mayweather Promotions and will be televised by Showtime.

Weigh in results:

Broner 144 Lbs.

Vargas 138.5 Lbs.

Undefeated Egyptian fighter, Andreas “King Cheetah” Valavanis (11-0-1, KO’S), will face  Tanzanian Salehe Mkalekwa (12-4-0, 13 KO’S) this Friday for the vacant ABU welterweight title endorsed by the World Boxing Council.

Mkalekwa comes from defeating the Pride of Uganda, Juma Waswa, by unanimous decision. Valavanis, one of the most promising  prospects of Tanzania, earned his place in this fight, by defeating tough Ivans Levickis by points.

This fight will take place at the Charter Hall in Nairobi, Kenya.

Armenian Vanes Martirosyan (36-3-1, 21 KOs) will finally be the one to challenge World Boxing Council middleweight Champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, on May 5 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Martirosyan, who was WBC silver  super welterweight, has faced fighters of the quality. That star line up includes:   Ishe Smith, Saul Roman, Erislandy Lara, Demetrius Andrade, Jermell Charlo, so it`ll be a test of merit for Champion Gennady Golovkin.

“I was out of circulation for some policy matters in boxing, but I never stopped training, I was just waiting for a great opportunity and God has given it to me now,” says  Martirosyan, stressing:

“I’m going to do my level best.  It`s all about writing my own history in boxing, I always give 100%  and this will no exception. The World  will be surprised…and pleasantly, when I get crowned as new Champion.”
