Anthony Fowler returns to Liverpool Echo Arena this Saturday, home of many of his multiple successes, as he aims to go 6-0 in the professional ranks.
Since departing the Team GB base IN Sheffield, Fowler relocated nearby to Dave Coldwell’s thriving Rotherham gym, and the results have been flawless thus far with Fowler climbing the professional rankings at a rapid pace.
With his eyes fixed firmly on the 154lb domestic scene, Fowler is continuing his education before making moves on titles, and his trainer is delighted with his charge’s progress so far.
“He’s doing everything I’m asking of him and I ask a lot, revealed Coldwell when discussing his young student. “His amateur experience gave him a solid foundation, but he’s a professional now and there’s still some work to do with him.
“Ever since he came to my gym, he’s showed a brilliant hunger to be one of the best and I think the winning atmosphere that exists in there at the moment is also showing him what is required to be the very best.
“He takes so much from the likes of Tony Bellew and Jamie McDonnell because that’s where he wants to be. He wants the big fights for the big titles, but he’s aware that there’s a lot of work to do. I’m hopeful I can get him there in time.”
On Saturday’s outing, Coldwell added, “It’s another fight in front of the city he absolutely loves and hopefully the good people of Liverpool will get behind him on the night, and stick with him for the rest of his career as I think he’s going to bring some very exciting fights to the Echo Arena.
Saturday is another big show with the return of Amir Khan on top of the bill and I want Fowler to have the taste of these big shows so it gives him the hunger to be a massive success. It’s another step on what promises to be an entertaining journey and as long as he keeps moving on the way I want him to then I’ll be a very happy trainer.”
