Demetrius Andrade wants Golovkin v Canelo 2 / TBA co-feature slot if no main event offer

The undefeated two-time world champion is one of the fighters in the frame to replace Canelo should the Mexican be suspended for between six and twelve months at a Nevada hearing on April 18.

Having already thrown his hat into the ring to oppose Golovkin should Canelo be thrown out, Andrade is keeping his fingers crossed he can feature on the Las Vegas bill in some capacity.

“I think it’s a sad situation … I don’t want to downplay the sport of boxing but if they allow that, that’s just bad for boxing. Bad for boxing man!” Andrade told SiriusXM Boxing Radio Show ‘At the Fights‘.

“And if the fight does go on, I need to be on that card. I need to be the co-feature or the opening bout on that card May 5th because people need to see me.”

On his currently frustrating situation trying to land big fights, Andrade added: “Right now I’m having troubling times with promotions as I don’t have the best promoters out there.

“But are they good, have they been in the game for a long time, are they trying to do what’s best? Yes. Do I have the best, do I have the guys who have the clout? No. We all know that. We all understand that.

“It’s about two guys that work their ass off to get in the ring, do what it do, make the most money, live a good life, everybody should get a shot at that. Everybody.”

At the Fights airs Mondays and Fridays from 6-8p ET on the first and only nationally-broadcast combat radio channel, SiriusXM RUSH 93, and is hosted by former New York State athletic commissioner Randy Gordon and former #1-ranked Heavyweight contender Gerry Cooney.
