Results from Sheffield so far:

Gavin McDonnell took Gamal Yafai’s WBC Silver International belt and undefeated record to-boot with an impressive win at Sheffield Arena.

McDonnell use his superior experience to fend off Yafai’s powerful attacks and from the mid-rounds was in total control.

Judges carded 116-112 (twice) and 117-111 in favor of McDonnell who moves closer to another world title shot in the near future.

Earlier, world-rated featherweight Barry ‘Kid Galahad’ Awad produced a cracking double left hand to finish off Irving Berry in the third.

Galahad, who’s hoping to land fights with the top operators in the division – including rival Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg, stopped a usually resistant opponent who has operated at world level.

In the end, Galahad as just too cute for Berry and moves one step closer to landing that coveted world shot with a 24th straight victory.

Dave Allen‘s redemption bid ended in heartbreak once again but this time it was a bad cut that meant Lenroy Thomas kept his Commonwealth heavyweight belt.

A huge clash of heads after two minutes saw Allen’s eyebrow split wide open and referee Michael Alexander was taking no chances.

The fight was called off and deemed a technical draw, although Thomas was gracious enough to confirm he would accept a trilogy fight if Eddie Hearn’s price was right.

Atif Shafiq took Lee Appleyard out in the fourth round in what was an upset with the bookies’ pre-fight odds.

Dropping Appleyard twice, Shafiq finished the contest in the fourth round to improve his C.V to 19-2.

Former British and Commonwealth super-middleweight champion Rocky Fielding banked a good eight rounds in his meeting with Karel Horejsek.

The Liverpudlian warmed up for sterner tests with a wide points win over the distance to make it 26 career victories against that solitary defeat to Callum Smith.

Super featherweight Leigh Wood began proceedings in Yorkshire with a stoppage win over Rafael Castillo. Wood can now boast a record of 20-1.
