Dana White confirms Floyd Mayweather MMA talks ongoing, plans to strip Conor McGregor of UFC title
Floyd Mayweather remains locked in talks with UFC chief Dana White regarding a massive MMA rematch with Conor McGregor.
Despite McGregor recently wishing Mayweather ‘a happy retirement’ suggesting talks were off, White says a second bout continues to be a possibility.
In the TMZ Sports video clip, White also confirmed McGregor will be stripped of his UFC lightweight title moving forward.
McGregor hasn’t defended for over a year and White will move to give mandatory Khabib Nurmagomedov his chance soon.
“The only way a rematch makes sense in that fight is in the UFC,” White said regarding the Mayweather situation before stating: “he absolutely should be worried about his skills” on facing McGregor in the octagon.
White also insisted, “Anything is possible,” as rumors gather paced of a summer showdown in Las Vegas.
On McGregor stalling his UFC career waiting for Floyd, White believes it’s highly possible “Conor might never come back” – other than for Mayweather.
