Sam Sexton took aim at former friend Dillian Whyte, labelling him a ‘bum’ and said he hopes Lucas Browne knocks him out.
Whyte is scheduled to square off against Browne at the o2 Arena in London on March 24th in a high profile grudge-match, the build up to the fight has been littered with bad-blood between the ‘Body Snatcher’ and ‘Big Daddy’.
If Whyte can come through Browne, match-ups with former foe Anthony Joshua and WBC champ Deontay Wilder will be the target for the ‘Body Snatcher’.
Whyte’s former friend and current British heavyweight Champion – Sam Sexton, is hoping ‘Big Daddy’ can put a halt to those lofty ambitions and upset the applecart.
Giving his thoughts on the match-up in an exclusive interview with World Boxing News, Sexton said: “The bum yeah (referring to Whyte)? I’m not sure, it’ll probably be a slug-fest to be fair.
“But I’d like to see Lucas Browne knock him out, I really would and I don’t say that about many people, but me and Dillian Whyte were friends.
“We had been to a couple of Klitschko camps together we were always together we hung out together we had a laugh together and then for one reason or another he decided to rip into me and slag me off.”
Sexton is pencilled in to make his first defence of his Lonsdale strap against Hughie Fury on May 12th, in a bout which will be broadcast on free to air broadcaster Channel 5.
Talking about a potential future match-up with Whyte, he said: “ I’ve tried to get the fight with him before, obviously before the Cornish fight and before he fought Chisora.
“I had pulled out of a local show because I done my hand and the next day they offered me the fight for three weeks notice so I was going to be out the gym for two weeks obviously we didn’t take the fight. “I kept trying to get then fight and they kept making excuses,” Sexton concluded.
