Trainer Angel Garcia is confident son Danny can handle the challenge coming from Brandon Rios ahead of their Las Vegas showdown on Saturday night.
Garcia has prepped his former world title holding fighter to combat the aggressive style of Rios, and despite being respectful of ‘Bam Bam’, is not expecting any problems for Danny in the fight.
“Brandon Rios is not going to be an easy opponent,” said Angel.
“This is going to be a great fight. Rios is a very tough fighter. There’s no way this is going to be an easy fight and Danny knows that.
“Danny knows he can’t take anything lightly because Brandon Rios will be prepared. But he’s not going to win. Danny Garcia has never taken a beating; he gives them out.
“Brandon Rios better keep his hands up. We’ll be ready in one week for Danny Garcia to be at his best. You’re going to see him once again show his great skills,” he added.
A win for Danny puts him within touching distance of another world title shot following a first career loss at the hands of Keith Thurman.
As the clash is sanctioned as a World Boxing Council eliminator at 147 pounds, Garcia could earn a rematch with Thurman by the end of the year and be in line for a future unification with Errol Spence if successful on both counts.
