Charlo backed to defeat anyone at 160, including GGG or Canelo

That’s according to trainer Ronnie Shields, who’s already plotting a big win over Huge Centeno Jr. before a crack at the big boys.

Charlo can win the interim WBC title to Gennady Golovkin’s version next month and be in line to face the winner of the big punching Kazakh and Canelo Alvarez, who rematch on May 5.

“Jermall looks great in training camp and we expect him to be at his best come March 3,” said Shields.

“He’s motivated to put on a good show and prove to everyone he’s a force in this division.

“Hugo Centeno is a quality fighter. He’s well-trained and has length, so Jermall knows he has to be prepared. Centeno isn’t going to let him win, Jermall is going to have to go in and impose his will on the man.”

On where his place will lie in the future on the weight class, Shields added: “I believe Jermall has the talent and determination to beat any of the top middleweights out there.

“We’re going to keep working every day so that when the time comes for one of those fights with a Golovkin or Canelo, he’ll be prepared to take advantage of the opportunity.”

Golovkin v Canelo sees the currently top rated duo face-off to decide the number one before a string of mandatories are expected to be enforced.

The WBA have Ryota Murata waiting in the wings for his shot, whilst Sergiy Derevyanchenko is the mandatory with the IBF.

Either of those could find themselves above Charlo in the pecking order as WBO ruler Billy Joe Saunders also eyes up a massive unification.
