And since recovering from the barnstormer, ‘Million Dollar’ Crolla admitted he’ll soon be making an announcement on his next opponent.

Manchester’s fan favourite has revealed he is eyeing up yet another tilt at world glory.

“This year is the year that I see myself bringing a world title back,” he exclusively told World Boxing News. I’m excited for it and there’ll be an announcement in the next few days of when you’ll be able to see me back in the ring.”

“I’m really looking forward to it, I’m back in training and the plan is to come through my next fight before setting up a big world title fight around the summer time,” he added.

The 31-year-old knew how significant his victory over Burns was back in October.

And Crolla, who won the WBA lightweight world title before defending successfully against Ismael Barroso in sensational fashion, has revealed it has rejuvenated his ambitions in boxing.

“It was a decent fight; most important thing was I knew what was on the line.

“People were asking questions of where the loser goes from here and it was so important to win, and it was obviously really important to get back to winning way against such a good fighter in Ricky Burns made it all the sweeter.

“My ambitions to become a world champion again are still as strong as they were, and I look forward to doing that.

“I haven’t put a time on it (retirement) but I’m under no illusions, I don’t plan on getting punched in ten years time. The time will come, when I stop improving, I’ll stop improving.

“I’m thankful for the support from everyone who comes to see me and everyone from social media who wishes me well.”
