Dereck Chisora was seen at The O2 Arena on Saturday night deep in conversation with David Haye and Joe Joyce backstage.
The trio were going over the finer points of a deal that would see Chisora fight Joyce on the Tony Bellew v Haye 2 undercard later in the spring at the same venue.
According to Joyce’s manager Sam Jones, the deal is almost complete and would see Joyce take on the former world title challenger in just his FOURTH pro outing on May 5th.
Joyce, 32, is currently lined up to fight Rufolf Jozic on February 16 before another scheduled bout takes place in mid-March.
Should Chisora accept the offer on the table, that would mean Joyce would then move on to face ‘Del Boy’ in a massive event on Sky Sports Box Office
“The deal is done if Chisora accepts the offer,” Jones exclusively told World Boxing News. “It looks done but it’s still down to Chisora.
“It’s a hard fight for Joe, but it’s one we’re confident he will come through with flying colours and victory will put him right in the mix,” he added.
Opponents for March are still being considered by Jones and promoter Haye, but Joyce can expect a step-up from Jozic in his bid to be completely ready for Chisora.
The aging Chisora is looking for a return to form following a failed European title challenge against Agit Kabayel last year, whilst the 34 year-old hasn’t scored back-to-back wins for two years.
